The Challenge
A PE-backed business services organization was established to consolidate regional healthcare practices and expanded rapidly through strategic investments and partnerships. However, the organization struggled to standardize its finance, sales, and back-office functions into a unified entity. Finance and sales teams operated across multiple systems with disparate processes, resulting in a heavily manual close and consolidation process.
The company needed to present its first budget to its board and PE owners but lacked the skillset, technology, and financial models to build a credible budgeting process, including a sales commission analysis aligned with healthcare industry norms.
The Solution
Highspring was engaged to establish a centralized Office of the CFO and support the client through its first full budget cycle. The team developed a comprehensive set of future-state financial processes, created a five-year organizational roadmap outlining required functions and workforce needs, and detailed a set of initiatives to advance maturity by leveraging NetSuite capabilities to maximize automation and integration.
Highspring also conducted a sales commission analysis, refined the commission plan to align with healthcare industry best practices, and provided revenue, cost, and capital expense templates to drive data collection. The team aggregated all inputs into a consolidated three-statement financial model and crafted the full board presentation storyboard, including revenue, direct cost, and EBITDA bridge analyses with supporting narratives.
Our Impact
Highspring equipped the organization with the processes, planning capabilities, and operating structure needed to support its next phase of growth, delivering measurable outcomes including:
- Completing the organization’s first budget cycle within the established timeline, earning board approval.
- Updating 15+ financial processes to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency.
- Developing a five-year organizational roadmap to guide finance function growth and workforce planning.
- Consolidating all fragmented finance teams into a centralized back office.
- Initiating NetSuite ERP implementation to streamline finance operations and support ongoing automation.
